My father, Richard W. Loftus, Esq., grew up in Ward 5, Washington, D.C., and my grandparents are buried at Mt. Olivet Cemetery here in Ivy City. Raised in modest circumstances, my father's academic excellence earned him a scholarship to Gonzaga College High School, where he became a proud member of the Class of 1956. He later earned his Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center and went on to enjoy a distinguished legal career.
To honor our grandparents, Harry and Marie Loftus, my father and his brother, Jerome C. Loftus ('54), established the Harry and Marie Loftus Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund at Gonzaga. The scholarship provides partial tuition assistance to deserving students, continuing a family tradition of educational opportunity and service to others. The fund is officially listed by Gonzaga among its named endowed scholarship funds.
Over the years, I have been fortunate to receive messages from scholarship recipients who wanted to learn more about my father's life and the family behind the scholarship. Those conversations have been incredibly meaningful and remind me that his legacy continues to inspire future generations of Gonzaga students.

Pete and his wife, Anivierkys reside at the Hecht Warehouse Apartments in Ivy City, the very building where his father worked while earning his juris doctorate at Georgetwon University Law Center. Pete's father grew up in Ward 5 with residences on Benning Road NE, Trinidad, and Ivy City. He has strong family ties to the neighborhood and became a community advocate. His concerns for Ivy City and Ward5D02 created the desire to run for ANC.

My family’s roots in Washington, D.C. span generations. My grandparents, Harry and Marie Loftus, are honored through the Harry and Marie Loftus Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund at Gonzaga College High School. The scholarship was established by my father, Richard W. Loftus (’56), and my uncle, Jerome C. Loftus (‘54), to provide tuition assistance to deserving students, reflecting our family’s long-standing commitment to education and service in our community.
Because of Pete's special connection to Ward 5D02 and Ivy City, he is concerned about the condition of the neighborhood and the lack of attention from City Council & The Mayor's Office.
Ivy City paid its dues and if elected ANC, resident will have a voice who maintians a positive relationship with the DCMPD, the DC Department of Buildings, and Department of Licensing and Consumer Protection.
We need more trees, plants, and greenspace in Ivy City. Residents can apply for grants for assistance but need guidance. I will help as much as I can. We also need more trash recepticles and a budget for workers to maintain sanitation.
